What is Levonorgestrel?

Levonorgestrel is a type of emergency contraception that can be used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or if other forms of contraception fail. It works by preventing ovulation or fertilization and should be taken as soon as possible after unprotected sex. Levonorgestrel is not intended for use as a regular form of birth control.

Uses

POSTINOR 2 is used as an emergency contraceptive to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or a contraceptive failure. It should be taken as soon as possible after unprotected sex, ideally within 12 hours, but no later than 72 hours (3 days) after intercourse. It is not intended for regular birth control and should not be used as a primary form of contraception.

a severe liver disease;

a blood clotting disorder;

a history of breast cancer;

unusual vaginal bleeding;
